LUJ Students Enjoy BBQ During Welcome Week
Over 60 students enjoyed corn on the cob, chips, yakiniku, hot dogs, and a variety of other dishes as a part of LUJ’s Welcome Week.
The event took place at BBQ Days, in Ryogoku, within walking distance of the LUJ campus building. Students, both new and returning, enjoyed a cool night and clear sky as they talked with each other about classes and what they did during the summer. Later, Bingo was played, with prizes being handed out to the winners.
The BBQ was just one of the activities during Welcome Week.
On Tuesday, LUJ Professor Luis Poza gave a presentation showing students the IT Resources available to them, one being access to hundreds of thousands of books and e-books in our LUJ library database.
On Wednesday, Bill Kurata, LUJ’s Director of Outreach and Career Services, discussed the Co-Op program and its potential to allow undergraduate students a chance to gain work experience while earning credits toward their degree.
On Thursday, Summer Wheeler, Director of the Learning Center, helped guide students through the process of signing up for help with their classes. LUJ’s Learning Center employs many tutors who share their knowledge with students looking to improve their grades.
