LUJ Alumni Excel at a Prestigious Tokyo Hotel

Angelo Macatangay, a Lakeland University Japan (LUJ) alumnus, has been employed full-time by the Peninsula Hotel, a five-star hotel, as a management trainee. He is the third LUJ graduate to be employed by this luxury hotel in central Tokyo.

“Angelo has joined us as a housekeeping inspector and is working hard to be promoted to Floor Supervisor,” says Satoshi Homna, the Human Resource Director for the hotel.

Since starting the job in December 2023, Angelo says that “The job has been nothing but excellent. The work culture is fantastic, and everyone welcomed me well.”

Bobur Gulmetov, another LUJ graduate, joined the Peninsula Hotel in December 2022. Currently he is the leader of an upsell project. “We successfully achieved and surpassed the upsell target. I believe I exceeded all the expectations of my managers.”

A third graduate of LUJ and the Wisconsin campus, Manabu Fujita, joined the hotel when it first opened in 2007 as a physical trainer. He majored in Sports Management at the Wisconsin campus.

More recently, Manabu has been providing shiatsu treatment after completing a grueling three-year course.

The luxury hotel seems pleased with the quality of Lakeland’s alumni, and the hotel Human Resource director said he would like to continue working with LUJ in the future.
