Spring 2024: ALEKS Placement Assessment
To Undergraduate students,
This is an announcement regarding the ALEKS Placement Assessment, a web-based math placement test.
ALEKS test is an OPTIONAL test since any student can register for either MAT120-Quantitative Reasoning and/or MAT140-Advanced Algebra & MAT140W-Advanced Algebra Workshop/Seminar for Quantitative Skills.
Please take the ALEKS test if one of the following applies to you.
1) If you are thinking more of Science, Engineering, and Math majors in the future, would like to take MAT140-Advanced Algebra and would like to be exempt from taking MAT140W-Advanced Algebra Workshop/Seminar.
OR
2) if you would like to try to be placed directly into MAT162-Pre-Calculus or MAT220-Probability and Statistics and skip taking either MAT120-Quantitative Reasoning and/or MAT140-Advanced Algebra & MAT140W-Advanced Algebra Workshop/Seminar.
If you wish to take this assessment test this semester, please send us an email to Academic Affairs (academicaffairs@japan.lakeland.edu) by 10:30am on Monday, February 5thto sign up.
Please note that since the testing date, time, and location will be decided after we determine the number of students who signed up for the test and their class schedules, the late sign-up WILL NOT be accepted. Please make sure to contact us by the deadline above.
