LUJ to Offer New B.A. Degree in Communication

Starting in Fall 2024, Lakeland University of Japan will be offering current and incoming students a chance to complete a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication.

Earning a degree in Communication can mean a promising start in a variety of fields, such as public relations, marketing, advertising, copywriting, editing, journalism, and digital media & filmmaking, to name just a few.

Graduates majoring in communication can also go on to become social media specialists for a company or community relations managers. They will also acquire skills in persuasion, public speaking, negotiation, criticism, and argumentation.

Here are just a few LUJ courses related to Communication:

  • Fundamentals of Public Speaking
  • Introduction to Mass Media
  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Persuasion & Advocacy
  • Strategic New Media and Digital Communication
  • Leadership Communication
  • Debate Practicum
  • American Oratory
  • Media Literacy and Effects
  • Intercultural Communication

Unlike other universities, LUJ’s international student body and multilingual atmosphere will give communication majors a chance to take on world issues from a global perspective. Plus…four years in Tokyo. Can’t argue with that.

Here as well are a few websites that show the earning potential of a college graduate who majored in communication.

Also, in case you’re interested, several famous American celebrities graduated with a degree in communication. Among the many are billionaire Oprah Winfrey, film director Spike Lee, television personality Ellen DeGeneres, NBA Head Coach Erik Spoelstra, Disney CEO Robert Iger, actor Matthew McConaughey, and stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld.
