LUJ and Sumida BOE English Club Put on a Ghoul-Tastic Halloween Event

On Saturday, October 28, LUJ x BOE English Club celebrated Halloween by putting on a variety of spooktacular Halloween activities, from mummy wraps, eyeball races, Halloween bingo, bottle flips, knock 'em down booths to a trick or treat scavenger hunt.

The Halloween Schedule

2pm - Greetings and Costume Prep

2:10 - 2:45pm - Candy-Driven Challenges

2:45pm - Halloween Bingo

3pm - Team Games (Eyeball Race and Mummy Wrap)

3:45pm - A Trick or Treat Scavenger Hunt.

Book prizes donated by the U.S. Embassy were awarded to students with the best costumes.

The event was covered by “Weekly Sumida,” a local television program airing on J.com.

All in all, students “had a blast,” said Yuko Takamatsu, head of student affairs at LUJ. (takamatsu@japan.lakeland.edu)

In addition to the twenty Sumida middle school students who have been attending English Club regularly, ten high school students from Sumidagawa High School also joined in on the fun. Our own LUJ undergraduate activity leaders helped run the sessions.

Other visitors from the BOE included Public Relations Associate Yuri Shimada, as well as Youdou Arai and Tomoyuki Miyamoto.

As always, English Club program director Jessica McDonald led the way. A big thanks to all of the LUJ staff who came in to help: Chiemi Tamura, Summer Wheeler, Taiga Ishikawa, Charlie Stockman, and Alex Dudek. Thanks also to our undergraduate activity leaders, Abby Montgomery, William Hardiman and Robin Zhang.
