“Resurgent Interest in Traditional Japanese Vernacular Architecture: Field Notes from the Kominka Boom”, presented by Paul Fradalé
"Kominka" is basically "old Japanese house". Recently there has been a trend of buying and renovating old Japanese properties, typically farm houses or old shops. This often comes with the added benefit/motivation of the buyer moving from a crowded urban area to the countryside. Mr. Fradale belongs to an organization of people who have done this. Join us as he explains what kinds of buildings fall into the "kominka" category and shares suggestions for anyone who might be interested in buying and fixing one up.
