Hospitality Management (B.A.)
Students who have successfully completed a B.A. in Hospitality Management from Lakeland University should be able to:
- Explain the major concepts in the functional areas of accounting, economics, marketing, finance, management, leadership, and management information systems.
- Construct and present effective oral and written forms of professional communication.
- Identify the key legal and ethical issues related to hospitality operations.
- Demonstrate responsible and effective workplace behavior skills and traits in a professional business environment.
- Evaluate a variety of outcomes to problems in the hospitality operation.
- Apply accounting and costing skills to an operation with an end result of profitability.

Three (3) semester hours from the following:
- BUS 370 - Intercultural Communications
- JPS 100 - Basic Japanese for Business
- One semester of foreign language
- Three (3) semester hours of EFL coursework
Students must choose one of the following experiential learning options:
Option One: Minimum of 8 up to 14 semester hours
- HSP 212 - Housekeeping Practicum (2 semester hours)
- HSP 213 - Food and Beverage Practicum (2 semester hours)
- HSP 394 - Cooperative Education Experience–Hospitality Management Leadership (4-10 semester hours)
Option Two: Minimum of 22 up to 30 semester hours
- EXP 301 - Work, Ethics, and the Good Life (1 semester hour)
Students must complete a minimum of twenty-one (21) semester hours of cooperative education for this track in all three areas below:
- HSP 390 - Cooperative Education Experience–Housekeeping (6-9 semester hours)
- HSP 392 - Cooperative Education Experience–Food & Beverage (6-10 semester hours)
- HSP 394 - Cooperative Education Experience–Hospitality Management Leadership (4-10 semester hours)
