Spring 2026 Orientation Shows Record LUJ Enrollment
On Monday, January 5, LUJ held its Spring 2026 Orientation, held in Muskie Hall at LUJ's campus building in Ryogoku.
Around 90 new students came to the orientation, which included presentations by the Student Government Association (SGA), and an explanation of campus and student life by Kenta Shirakura, Director of Enrollment and Student Services.
Students were also given a tour of the library and classrooms. Throughout the day, Japanese snacks, such as senbei and onigiri, were available, along with drinks.
To help break the ice, the SGA and Student Affairs conducted a Trivia Game Quiz and Bingo, offering prizes to the winners.
LUJ has been growing steadily. Since Spring 2025, student enrollment has nearly doubled, with new students coming from over 20 countries.
The campus in Ryogoku is surrounded by parks and museums, all a 5–10-minute walk away. National sumo wrestling tournaments occur at the nearby Kokugikan Arena during the second and third weeks of each term.
One of the most well-known cultural facilities in Japan, the Edo-Tokyo Museum, has undergone a dramatic renovation and will reopen to the public on March 31, 2026.
The Kyu-Yasuda garden, meanwhile, is only a short walk from campus, and offers students a peaceful break from the stress of classes.
