LUJ Professor to Present at International Conference
Dr. Iskra Gencheva, Associate Professor of Humanities and History here at LUJ, will be presenting at a conference in Singapore.
The conference, the 13th Annual Asia-Pacific Early Christian Studies Society, will be held from Sept. 7 to 9, and will include research presentations by scholars and professors from all over the world.
The title of Dr. Gencheva’s presentation is “Uniformity in Pluralistic Context: The Notitia Dignitatum and Its Empire.”
The Notitia Dignitatum, according to Australian scholar Ingo G. Maier, is a “compilation of lists and 89 pictures” linked to civil and military hierarchies of the late Roman Empire.
Dr. Gencheva, in her presentation, will discuss the unreliability and fictitious nature of this historic manuscript. In the past, she has completed research on the Notitia Dignitatum at, among others, the Bodleian library at the University of Oxford, and the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.
