Learn about LUJ's New Digital Publication: The Lakeland Zasshi
The Lakeland Zasshi is a trilateral digital publication that stretches across three campuses: Virginia Wesleyan University (Virginia Beach, VA), Lakeland University (Plymouth, WI), and Lakeland University Japan (Tokyo). It publishes all kinds of creative work, from listicles centered on concert junkies to book reviews and social challenges in developing countries.
'Zasshi' means in Japanese 雑 誌, or 'magazine'. Launched here at LUJ in August 2024, the Zasshi attempts to strike a harmonic balance between Japanese and Western culture. Due to our ever-growing international population, we keep our doors and windows open widely so that we can showcase the creative and cultural dexterity of our students, staff and faculty.
If you're reading this and are currently enrolled as a student at one of these universities, the Zasshi would love to hear from you. Likewise, if you are a faculty/staff member or an alumni from either LUJ, VWU or LUW, we'd also love to read your work.
Our apologies, but we do not consider work from anyone outside of these three universities.
If your work is accepted and published in the Zasshi, you will be awarded a gift card of your choice. For longer works that require reporting and extensive work or travel, a larger award can be discussed with the main editor, Patrick Parr, who you can email here: parr@japan.lakeland.edu
Our current submission window opened on February 15 and will close August 15.
