Make sure to log in again some time later and check the status. If the courses have not been approved after 2 days, check with your advisor.

If your intended course is still full on My.lakeland, there is an online waiting list and you can be on the list if you would like. A MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff

As you know, the Japanese government has extended the Covid 19 emergency until May 31.This means we will have to begin the summer semester with online courses. I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, but our first consideration is your health and safety.

At this point, we do not know when we can return to live classroom teaching and learning. We are living in unprecedented times when the whole world is facing a lethal pandemic and the future is unknown.  We have to wait (and I know you are tired of waiting) until it is safe to recommence holding  lessons in a classroom surrounded by friends and classmates.

The Summer classes will start on May 25 for academic students and on May 26 for EAP students. We are looking forward to seeing you in the virtual classrooms and providing you with the highest quality education we can under the circumstances.

The Learning Center will have more tutors available online for you to consult with and to ask the questions you hesitate to ask your instructors. Please use this service.  The staff in the Student Affairs and Academic Affairs offices are available to you by email and the counselor, Dr. Kawanishi, is available every Wednesday to help you relieve your stress and to conquer the pent up frustrations, personal and academic, you may be experiencing.

Many students have felt challenged by shifting from one platform to another for different classes because they felt it was time-consuming and frustrating.  To ease this frustration, we will reduce the number of platforms by focusing on Blackboard in the academic program, the same platform that all the other campuses of Lakeland University will use.  EAP classes will primarily use Zoom, as this platform better suits the needs of the students in this program. We hope to have some training sessions available for you to better understand the platform you will be primarily using.

Please adhere to the health guidelines repeated frequently every day – maintaining social distance when you are outside your home, wearing a mask and washing your hands frequently. If we all abide by these simple precautions, we may more quickly defeat the current affliction and return to a more normal life,

To keep up with the latest developments, please check the blog, your LUJ e-mail account, and our website.

Take care, stay healthy and see you online in a few weeks.

Important Notice - Summer 2020 Starting Date

To all students, faculty, and staff,

Due to the continuing conditions of the coronavirus, LUJ has decided to postpone the start of the Summer 2020 semester until May 25, 2020. Summer classes for both EAP and Academic programs will now be held from May 25th - August 14th. LUJ's administration continues monitoring the situation closely, and if the campus is unable to reopen by May 25th all classes will be moved online until further notice. Students should take special note that classes - either in-person or online - will be held even on traditionally scheduled national holidays throughout the summer term.

Naturally, our hope is for a quick return to the traditional in-person classes, but the health and safety of the LUJ community is our top priority. The decision to begin summer classes in-person or online will be announced in mid-May, as we continue assessing the best ways for you to continue your Lakeland education.

New incoming students and those transitioning from EAP to the Academic program will be receiving additional details by email regarding updates for orientations, placement testing, and summer course registration.

If you have any questions regarding the summer calendar or upcoming semester, please contact . Even remotely, LUJ staff and faculty continue offering our student support services, and we are here to help you any way we can.

Thank you.
