Dear Academic students,

With the Spring 2021 semester just around the corner, we are happy to introduce a more streamlined system for viewing and ordering your course textbooks.
A new feature has been added to the LUJ website, allowing you to select your course(s), review textbook information.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

If you are confident in your current spring schedule, please follow the instructions below and submit the agreement form by midnight on 12/23 (Wed) to receive your textbooks before the spring semester begins. If you are not, you can still submit the form by 1/10 (Sun), but please note that you WILL NOT receive your books by the first day of classes.
Once you submit the form you will not be able to change again.
If you are NOT confident in your spring schedule yet (i.e. You may add/drop a class in the first week, etc.), you should NOT complete the form until you confirm your schedule and courses.

To LUJ Academic Students,

Waitlist image

Students should keep in mind that even if a class is full, there is an online waiting list

This waiting list, however, does not guarantee registration for classes. Therefore, when you sign up for the waiting list, you must also register for an alternate class, since most students do not get into waitlisted class. Academic Affairs will contact you directly if a seat becomes avairable in the class you are waitlisted for. Otherwise, all waiting lists will be canceled on Monday, November 16th.

Following registration week, if you could not get into a class you need or strongly want, please wait until Tuesday, January 5th, 2021. This is the start day of the "Add/Drop Period" when another waitlist will become available if your desired class is still full at the time of attempted registration.

As always, only sign up for classes which are approved by your advisor.

Thank you,

Academic Affairs

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff

As was announced via email on Monday, November 2, one of our EAP students unfortunately has been infected with the COVID-19 virus and has been hospitalized. Based on calculations from a medical representative from the COVID Health Center (Hokenjo), LUJ was informed that the actual date of infection most likely took place on October 23, 2020, prior to the on-campus EAP workshop the student had attended on October 27, 2020. One other student, who is considered a “close contact”, has already taken a PCR test, was confirmed negative for the virus, and is following instructions from the health office to self-quarantine at home for the appropriate time. We are happy to report both students have confirmed they are feeling well and continue following the professional advice and guidelines from the health office.

Also announced earlier to by email to students, faculty, and staff, the university decided to hold all classes this week online. The voluntary on-campus academic courses, as well as EAP workshops, will resume the week of November 9th, provided no new problems occur.

LUJ has already taken measures to disinfect the campus areas per the guidelines and instructions of the Hokenjo. We will continue following all the recommended campus sanitation and safety protocols, and urge the LUJ community to also continue strictly following the health guidelines and stay safe.
