LUJ Book club Roth flyer 1

LUJ students, faculty, and staff,

Social distancing doesn't have to mean complete isolation; it's what you make of it, and you can thank professor Tompkins and our librarian Charles for providing more opportunities.  They will be implementing a book club starting this month, and would love to have everyone take part.  Sessions will be held through Zoom, and the book of focus will be Nemesis by Philip Roth; recipient of the 2011 Man Booker Prize.  Needless to say, you will be in for an interesting story.  Professor Tompkins provides a brief synopsis in descibing the book as "...a fictional account of a polio outbreak in Newark during World War II that examines the effects of fear and anxiety on the family and larger community during an epidemic".  He goes on to say, "It is a timely book given our current circumstances".  Oh, and by the way, the first five students to join will receive a copy of Nemesis FOR FREE!  Who says that social distancing can't have its perks, huh?

If you would like to get involved in a club doing great things and focusing on interesting literature, please reach out by contacting one of the following e-mail addresses:
