Dear Students, Faculty and Staff

As was announced via email on Monday, November 2, one of our EAP students unfortunately has been infected with the COVID-19 virus and has been hospitalized. Based on calculations from a medical representative from the COVID Health Center (Hokenjo), LUJ was informed that the actual date of infection most likely took place on October 23, 2020, prior to the on-campus EAP workshop the student had attended on October 27, 2020. One other student, who is considered a “close contact”, has already taken a PCR test, was confirmed negative for the virus, and is following instructions from the health office to self-quarantine at home for the appropriate time. We are happy to report both students have confirmed they are feeling well and continue following the professional advice and guidelines from the health office.

Also announced earlier to by email to students, faculty, and staff, the university decided to hold all classes this week online. The voluntary on-campus academic courses, as well as EAP workshops, will resume the week of November 9th, provided no new problems occur.

LUJ has already taken measures to disinfect the campus areas per the guidelines and instructions of the Hokenjo. We will continue following all the recommended campus sanitation and safety protocols, and urge the LUJ community to also continue strictly following the health guidelines and stay safe.

Have you or someone you know been getting the ugly red “You have been redirected…” error while using my.Lakeland?

There are a number of things that can cause this. For example, hitting the back button, double-clicking a link or clicking on a different link while another page is trying to load can cause that error. The most common cause, however, is a messy internet browser. If you are frequently seeing this error, uninstall all browser extensions and completely delete your browsing history. The links below are from Google and can help you get started. If you find yourself in need of additional assistance, please reach out to the Lakeland IT desktop support team via email at  or by calling 920-565-1143.

Dear Academic Students,

This semester, we use the same procedure from the previous semester for Course Withdrawal to best accommodate the current situation. For those who wish to withdraw from a course, please carefully read our advice and follow the instructions shown below.

■Deadline for a course withdrawal: Friday, November 6th by 5:00 pm

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE WITHDRAWING FROM A COURSE

  1. Before you make up your mind on withdrawing from a course, please make sure that you consult with your instructor to find the true status of your course progress. Your instructor may have a different view on your outcome of your final grade.
  2. No payment refunds (including time and efforts you have already invested).
  3. Your expected graduation term may be extended due to the shortage of credit hours by withdrawing from a course this term.
  4. The course level that you can register for may be affected.
  5. If you are on the school-sponsored visa, you may not reduce your workload below nine semester hours after withdrawing from one or more courses. If you also repeatedly withdraw from courses and slow down on your academic progress, you may increase the chance of not getting your student visa renewed by the Immigration Bureau.
  6. If you are receiving a G.I. Bill benefit, you should contact Student Affairs(for more information.

COURSE WITHDRAWAL INSTRUCTIONS

Instead of coming to the Academic Affairs office to pick up the withdrawal form, the students who wish to withdraw from a course may send an email request.
