Wade Carlton has been teaching at Lakeland College Japan since 2008 in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program. Prior to the Fall 2015 term, he was appointed EAP Program Coordinator, his current position. He holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Foreign/Second Language (with Merit) degree from the University of Birmingham (UK). He brings seven years of Japanese university teaching experience to LCJ, four years as a full-time lecturer at Shimane University and three years as an assistant professor at Ibaraki University. While at Shimane University, he edited the book Scientific Research and Scholarly Writing in Islam. Prior to becoming an educator, Carlton served six years as a U.S. Air Force officer, specializing in command post communications. 

While at LCJ, Carlton has been actively involved with students as faculty advisor to the cycling, basketball, camera, and baseball clubs.He often enjoys taking video of various school events and sharing the results with students and other faculty. He feels keeping connected to alumni is extremely enjoyable and important, and he is often one of the first people alumni stop by to talk with when they visit their alma mater. Outside of teaching EAP classes, he has also taught Open College, HeadStart, and Summer School classes, in addition to Writing Workshop in the academic division. His spring research field trips with EAP students are eagerly attended and have received high reviews. Carlton's project of interest his entire time at LCJ has been dialogue journals. His personal interests include cycling and following his beloved St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.
