Nina Handjeva-Weller has taught at Lakeland for the past three years primarily as a writing instructor. She has an undergraduate degree from McGill University in German Literature and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University. In addition to these undergraduate degrees she has a TESL Certificate and a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics both from Concordia University. She also recently received a Diploma of Applied Psychology and Counsellng from Kelowna College of Professional Counselling. In Canada, she taught academic writing at both McGill University and Concordia University. In Japan, she has taught full time at Doshisha Women's University in Kyoto, Tokai University in Hiratsuka, and Aoyama Gakuin Women's Junior College in Shibuya. Ms. Handjeva-Weller is a practicing artist/writer and has been involved in solo and group exhibitions in Canada and Japan. She has worked as a volunteer counsellor focusing on grief and palliative care counselling.
