Luis Poza has taught Academic Writing and Computer Science at Lakeland College Japan for 18 years. He holds a Masters degree in English with a focus on TESOL from San Francisco State University, and has lived and taught in Japan since 1985. He authored the new Lakeland course on Web Design (ART 280).
In addition to his teaching duties, he acts as the administrator for the campus web site, email system, online learning systems, and general database. He authors and maintains several web sites for the school and its activities, such as the Open College and the Conference on Global Higher Education at Lakeland Japan, as well as web sites supporting his classes, including Writing Workshop, Introduction to Computers, and Web Design. He also is responsible for creating the school schedule, coordinates student advising, and handles various other administrative tasks.
Mr. Poza if the faculty sponsor of various school clubs, most commonly overseeing the Computer Making and 3-D Printing clubs. He lives in Tokyo with his wife and their Shiba Inu Ponta, who sometimes visits the school and is unofficially considered the Lakeland Japan mascot.
