Humor in English

Welcome to Humor in English!

Humor is often the most difficult aspect of another language because it is often tied to knowledge of history and pop culture. In this course, we will explore various situations that contribue to humor such as slapstick, role-reversal, cross dressing and satire as well as such type of humor as double enendre, bawdy humor, tongue-in-cheek humor, punning, ethnic humor, and parody. We will view examples of a different type of humor each week and discuss what makes that particular kind of humor funny or not.
